It's not what you say, it's how you say it.
I'm Senta Burke, an Executive English Communication Coach, television and film actor, American accent and acting coach, and professional trainer.
I offer premium coaching, with a friendly and proprietary intuitive approach, to help you speak clearly and confidently, and listen like a native-speaker. I try to keep things fun and simple.
My work with non-native English speakers sits at the intersection of accent work and emotional connection. I came to this work, not through academia, but because I love the spoken English language and I think it is unfortunate that its brilliant sound structure is not taught properly to non-native speakers. I have also seen how people lose out on opportunities because of how they speak English, and it is not talked about enough because it is a sensitive topic. That's not helpful. I want to be helpful. I want to remove obstacles for people.
As an actor, I've spent years working with words, timing, listening, intention, and the way a voice communicates far more than the literal meaning of a sentence. In acting, you can say technically every word correctly and still not convey the right meaning. A misplaced emphasis can change a sentence. A pause can create authority or uncertainty. The same is true in professional communication.
I work with people who have already invested years in their education, expertise and careers. They don't necessarily need more English. They need to understand what's happening when they speak it - and how to make it work better for them.
My approach combines detailed listening, practical pronunciation coaching, natural spoken English exercises, and the expressive tools of an actor. I break down complicated speech patterns into understandable techniques you can practice and use in real life.
I've worked on network and streaming TV shows. I'm a member of SAG-AFTRA and the Television Academy. I trained in Meisner, on-camera, improv, and voiceover in Los Angeles, and in musical theatre in London. I hold a BA in Film from Emerson College. I also spent more than a decade in corporate technical writing and training, turning complex material into something people can actually use. I have a TEFL certificate.
I'm originally from California, have lived in London, and am now based in Paris. I coach exclusively in English, primarily using a general American accent as a reference for pronunciation and natural speech. But I can use a British accent as a reference, if preferred.
My goal isn't to turn you into an actor. It's to help you communicate your ideas, expertise and personality fully in English. Because you've worked too hard to get where you are to let your communication fall short of your capabilities.
